Today, I am sharing a card featuring the new Abstract Florals from Ellen Hutson.
This stamp set is perfect for creating those dreamy, organic floral shapes. To create this card, I started by inking the stamps using various shades of pink from Concord & 9th. I layered this on top of a grey background using the images from the Abstract Nature stamp. A few white inky splatters and a sentiment from the Causal Tagline stamp set completes this card.

Hello, sweet friends!
Happy Release Day! The new March release for Ellen Hutson is now available! I made a few cards featuring the new Abstract Nature and Casual Taglines stamp sets. The Abstract Nature stamp set speaks to my creative soul since I love abstract art.
Let me tell you, while abstract art is my jam, creating abstract art is nerve-wracking for me. Abstract art to me is about the artistry of shape and form and distilling the images we see down to their essence. No small feat for sure. I cannot say that is what I was able to accomplish since I did not have a particular image in mind, but rather, I love the organic symmetry of the shapes.
To create this card, I created two matching inked panels using the Abstract Nature stamp set paired with the Casual Greetings and Nice of You die along with a mix of inks from Catherine Pooler and Concord & 9th. I really like the shape of the Nice of You die and wanted to include this in my design. I love how the addition of the die creates depth and visual interest. Using my MISTI, I inked a rainbow panel of shapes onto two A2 white card panels. After I had completed my design, I took one of the panels and diecut it using the Nice of You die. I then used the sentiment strips to create the raised panels that match the first panel and adhered them using foam adhesive. A simple sentiment and black enamel dots complete this card.
My second card just makes me smile because the sentiment is funny and reminds me of my hubby. I love to visit our local museums for inspiration and the Contemporary Art Museum is amazing. However, my husband does not share my views, hence the sentiment is fitting for him when I drag him to another contemporary installation.
I created this card using many of the same techniques as the first card. I used the Abstract Nature and the classic Bokeh Dots stamp set to design my background panel. Once I had my two panels, I used one panel to diecut the word "Seriously" using the Classic Block Alpha set and paired this with the hilarious sentiments from the Casual Taglines stamp set. I think this card pretty much speaks for itself...seriously.

Today, I am sharing a card featuring Scrapbook.com's exclusive reinkers Metallic Rose, Metallic Gold and Metallic Frost.
Reinkers are a wonderful addition to one's crafty toolbox. Reinkers can be used like watercolors, for organic coloring, adding color to mixed media pastes, and much more. I admire mixed media, but I lack the ability to let go and see where the medium takes me. This card was a labor of love as I played with the reinkers while creating organic shapes with flat paint brushes and spatula tools. I also learned how to appropriately layer each medium so that they work together and not against one another. In the end, I was happy to have a chance to learn, utilize the various tools in my creative space and just have the time to create and explore.
To create this card, I used Strathmore Mixed Media paper as the base and cut it down to an A2 size panel. I then used a medium-sized flat brush to create brushstrokes with the Metallic Rose Reinker. I enjoy seeing the stroke marks on the textured side of the paper. Once dry, I layered the Gold Metallic Reinker on top. After the gold ink dried, I used the Nuvo Embellishment Mousse, in Indian Gold, to add texture.
The lovely leaf image is Altenew's Tall Foliage stamped in black ink. I wanted a scripty sentiment that would complement the organic feel of the background, and Scrapbook.com's Thankful and Grateful Slimline stamp set is perfect. At first, I tried to heat emboss the sentiment. However, even with using the antistatic powder, the embossing powder clung to the reinker background. For my second try, I used black Versafine ink to achieve a solid impression. A heat embossed sentiment using gold embossing powder and various matte gold pearls completes this card.
