Taylored Expressions Sneak Peek Day 2: I Want To Make Beautiful Things

Happy Tuesday Crafty Friends!

What did you think of yesterday's sneak peek? Did you find a few stamps and dies you just had to have? If you answered, yes, then I know the feeling! Today, I am sharing the Color Me Background and Big Blooms-Zinnia stamps.

I adore the Big Blooms collection. These mega blooms are perfect for any occasion. Today's card uses the Big Blooms-Zinnia to create a gate fold card.

To create this card, I die cut and colored the Big Blooms-Zinnia stamp twice using Copic markers and Faber Castell's Polychromos colored pencils with Gamsol. I am finding that using colored pencils, on top of my Copic coloring, adds a level of depth that I cannot achieve with Copic markers alone, at this time (I know, practice and practice some more). I then cut an A2 top-folding card base from Guava cardstock along with cutting and dry embossing a 4 x 5 1/4 piece of Confetti Cake cardstock for the base layer. Using the Label Stacklets 6, I die cut a Sugar Cube panel to stamp my faith-inspired sentiment.   To assemble the card, I scored the Zinnias at 2 1/4 inches and adhered the folded flower to the Confetti Cake panel. I cut a piece of white grosgrain ribbon and also adhered the ribbon to the back of the panel to act as a closure. Then, I layered the completed floral panel onto the A2 card base, added the sentiment panel and tied my ribbon.

My second card features the Color Me Background stamp. I think this stamp works perfectly as a bold background or add a splash of color to really make this stamp shine. The image is perfect for non-colorists and colorists alike, so don't be afraid to give it a try.

I chose to partially color the image (using colored pencils), while using the uncolored portion to set off my sentiment, palette and paintbrushes. I chose a vibrant color palette and paired it with a sentiment I think all crafters can relate to from the A Life She Loved stamp set.
