Hello Fellow Crafters and Scrappers,

Happy New Year! Welcome to the first Just A Scrappin' Challenge of 2014. Are you ready to start crafting this year? Did you make any New Year's crafting resolutions? I did. I made a resolution to do more scrapbooking. I have lots of pictures of my awesome boys. However, they are all sitting in a box and not in an album telling the various stories of my sons' many adventures. I am hoping to start working on a Project Life scrapbook. Wish me luck. Off to the challenge.

This week's challenge is Seeing Chevrons. Create a card, project or layout using chevrons in your design. I made this card for my son's 6th birthday. I cannot believe he is six. Where did the time go? This card was made using several layers of chevron paper from the October Afternoon Cakewalk collection. I then used various ephemera and stickers from the collection to complete the card.

Hello Fellow Crafters and Scrappers,

This is my first time playing in the Unity {Be Inspired} Challenge. Participants have three options: (1) color challenge, (2) card sketch challenge, or (3) scrapbook challenge. I chose to do the card sketch challenge.

I intentionally kept my design simple. However, as I continued to work on the design I noticed it lacked a little something. I added ribbon as a finishing touch. I used the Love You Tons stamp set by Unity Stamp Co., which is just too cute. Thank you for stopping by.

Hello Fellow Crafters and Scrappers,

This year I am trying to focus on trying new challenges and challenging myself to use the products I have in my stash in new ways. This week, I was introduced to Simon Says Stamp and Reverse Confetti by some of my favorite crafting bloggers. Really, where have I been? Both of these companies are amazing and the talent of their design team members is inspiring.

I am using sketch #8 from Reverse Confetti coupled with Simon Says Stamps' Wednesday Challenge. The theme for this week is Something New. I had the perfect card in mind for this challenge. I just needed a little sketch inspiration. Thank you Reverse Confetti. The card I made uses one of my favorite stamps from Unity Stamp Co. and my sister is the reason for my creating this card.

My sister has been on an educational journey for the last few years and this year she not only graduated with honors, but completed a much sought after internship and aced her medical certification class. I could not be prouder of her. She accomplished all of this while raising her teenage son, working full-time and dealing with chronic health issues. She is a true inspiration. There were many times when she felt defeated and overwhelmed. However, she knew the stakes were high and that nothing worth the time, effort and dedication would come easily.  Usually after a quick pep talk, either by myself or a quick look in the mirror, she was back on track and giving it her all. Her 'something new', is all the opportunities that  await her as an educated, highly-skilled professional. For my sister, the skies the limit. Congratulations, Monday!

Happy New Year!

Wow! It is 2014 and time for another year of crafting and other papered adventures. Twenty-thirteen was a wonderful crafting year. I met wonderful fellow crafters and was inspired by many more. This year I have already set my sights on trying Becky Higgins' Project Life. I am looking forward to documenting the antics and rambunctious lives of my two boys. Wish me luck!

This week for Unity's Friends with Flair, I decided to make Christmas-themed Thank You cards using the Tinsel in a Tangle stamp. I just adore this stamp with its cute, tinseled penguin and sassy sentiment. I wanted to keep the card simple since I would need to make several of these. I did mix things up a bit by stamping and cutting out the penguin and then putting him on pop dots for dimension. I also added a cute little Santa hat for a continued festive flair. However, the hat needed a little holiday sparkle so I added Martha Stewarts garnet glitter. I love the finished card.

Wahoo! We made it! Friday is here and it is time to have some crafty fun with our friends from Unity Stamp Co. I love the stamps from Unity Stamp Co. When I saw this stamp set I knew I just had to add it to my ever growing Unity Stamp collection. I used Unity's Ah Crap stamp set (along with a sentiment stamp from Stampin' Up) to create this funny birthday card for my dad. My dad is a funny guy who has a wicked sense of humor, so I knew he would enjoy the puns found in this stamp set. I know my dad is going to get a kick out of this card.

To create this card, I used Deconstructed Sketch #123 along with paper piecing to achieve the look I wanted to create. The paper is from various Basic Grey paper collections I have in my 6x6 stash, along with brads from KI.

Good morning fellow crafters and scrappers,

Welcome to another weekly challenge at Just A Scrappin'. This week's challenge is to create a project, card or layout that sums up the end of your summer memories using any colors or materials.

I created this card for my sister's mother-in-law who was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The beaches in California are were we spend time together as one big family and I wanted to give her something that is a reminder of those times. To create this card, I used the Life Is A Beach Cricut cartridge along with papers from Crate Paper and My Minds Eye. The window effect is created by using the frame function on the Wild Card cartridge.

Hello Fellow Crafters and Scrappers,

Wahoo! The week is almost over and it is time to craft. I love making my way down to my quiet spot to be creative, stamp, die cut and any other crafting thing that comes to mind. This week at Just A Scrappin' , we were asked to create a card, layout or project that is a reflection of who we are. I consider myself lucky to be a crafter. I love making cards for people. I like the idea of sending a card to an individual just to put a smile on their face. The funny thing, once a person becomes use to receiving a handmade card, a store bought will never do or so my friends and family tell me.

In the last several months, family and friends have encouraged me to sale my cards to local boutiques. I was nervous about starting such an endeavor, but I have enjoyed the process and the opportunity to constantly be challenged. I made this card at the request of a client and it is a reflection of my style as a card marker. I enjoy layering paper, stitching and stamping with my favorite stamps from Unity Stamp Co.
