Taylored Expressions Sneak Peeks Day 1: Spring Is In The Air

Happy Monday Taylored Expressions Fans,

I know you know what time it is! It's Taylored Expressions' February Release Week! However, before we can let all the crafty goodies out of the bag, we have several days of sneak peeks to tempt you. Today, I am showcasing the Cherry Blossom Embossing Folder and Skinny Mini Spring Borders with By The Fireside.

To create this card, I dry embossed Strathmore Mixed Media paper using the Cherry Blossom embossing folder. Using the raised side of the paper, I inked the paper with Salt Water Taffy dye ink, being careful to apply color around the blossoms. However, I did lightly ink over the image to apply color between the branches. Next, I used Derwent Inktense Watercolor Pencils to carefully apply color to the branches and petals. Once the coloring was completed, I used a fine tip watercolor brush to soften the colors. To add dimension to the piece, I die cut three butterflies using the In Flight Overlays from heavy weight vellum. A die cut border and sentiment complete this card.

The next card features the Skinny Mini Spring Borders and By The Fireside.

I do enjoy the versatility of this cute border die set. The set includes Easter bunnies, spring and flower garlands. Creating this card put me in die cutting heaven. I started by die-cutting all the pieces needed to complete the card using the: Skinny Mini Spring Border, By The Fireside, Picture Window, Door-to-Door Spring, Grass Border, Chocolate Bunny, and Little Bits Easter Basket and Easter Confetti. Once all the pieces were die cut, it was time to assemble the card. I layered from the back to the front starting with the picture window and working my way forward. I die cut the bunny garland several times from various pastel colored cardstock and then paper-pieced and glued each bunny onto a peapod base. A little liquid applique made for the perfect bunny tail. In between each bunny, I placed spring flowers using the flower border die and applied enamel shapes to the centers. The finishing touches were the Chocolate Bunny and Easter Basket.
