Taylored Expressions' April Release...Fly Me To The Moon

Happy Thursday Taylored Expressions Fans,

You made it, Thursday is here and with it Taylored Expressions April Release. This week, I hope you have enjoyed visiting the various Taylored Expressions designer's blogs and are inspired to go and play in your craftroom, too!

Today, I am featuring the new Sky High-Rocket, which pairs nicely with the preciously released Sky High Sentiments. I always think about how I can use dies and stamps for the men in my life, so I immediately thought of using the rocket for birthday cards. However, this die is versatile and can be used for graduation cards, encouragement cards and more. The possibilities are endless.

Okay, what is a rocket without a galaxy to soar through? To create the card's background, I used Tim Holtz Distress inks, Squeezed Lemonade, Salty Ocean, Picked Raspberry, Chipped Sapphire, Evergreenbough, Picket Fence, and Black Soot. First, I used the lighter colors and applied them to the center of my watercolor paper. I then continued to layer the colors until I was happy with the saturation of the colors. The edges of the paper is where I applied Chipped Sapphire and then Black Soot. Next, I spritzed the paper with water and allowed it to sit on the distress inked panel for 40 seconds or so. Then using a paper towel, I blotted up the excess water. To recreate the stars, I used white watercolor paint from my Gansi Tambi watercolor palette. The moon is created by die cutting a medium sized circle, using the Stitched Circle Stacklets die, and then layering it with embossing paste. The embossing paste provides a nice textured effect, which when dry I applied Hickory Smoke and Pumice Stone to add shading and create the look of craters. To complete the card, I embossed my sentiment on vellum and added a little sparkle to the rocket's flame. Time to blast off!

Thank you for stopping by today! However, the fun is not over. Visit the Taylored Expressions blog for a complete listing of participating designers and product information.

Have a fantastic day!
