Today is day three of Taylored Expressions Sneak Peeks. I hope you have enjoyed all the amazing inspiration from the Creative Team. I love that this month focuses on gifts made from the heart. These last two days featured monogrammed card and calendar sets, and today the team is kicking it up a notch up and sharing home decor projects and gifts featuring the Initially Collection.
My home decor project is a celebration of our family. As a military family we move frequently, but the state of Washington has a special place in our hearts and this project is a reflection of those cherished memories. The Initially Collection features three sizes for each letter: two capital letters with a height of 4" and 1", and a lower case letter 1" in height. For this project I used the 4" letter size and die cut each letter out of Oreo cardstock. I also used the Door to Door, Door to Door Decor and Door to Door Summer dies to create the door front.
I used a 16" x 20" canvas for this project. The canvas was prepared using Faber Castell's white gesso. Once dry, several coats of Liquitex Mars Black acrylic paint was brushed onto the canvas and left to dry between each application. The map of Washington, an old Rand McNally road map, was applied using Faber Castell's gel medium, which acts as an adhesive. Lastly, a glaze was added to protect the map and add a semi-gloss shine to the project.
Once the background was complete, I attached my letters and die cut door front. I love how the finished project turned out.
To celebrate the release of the Initially Collection, Taylor has a special offer and gift with purchase. For more information, visit the Taylored Expressions Webstore.
