Unity Stamp Co.: Friends with Flair

It's that time again at Unity Stamp Co.: Friday's Friends with Flair. Time to share with fellow crafters what individuals have created this week with their Unity Stamp Co stamps.

I created this masculine Thank You card using Echo Park's This and That collection, and a new sentiment stamp from Unity Stamp Co. called Everything Wonderful. I really love sentiment stamps and Unity has awesome sentiments. I then added machine stitching and jute from American Crafts. The final touch was the little wooden veneer piece from Studio Calico.

Thank you for stopping by.

Deconstructed Sketch No. 110

Ok, so I tried out Jen's Deconstructed Sketch No. 110 this week and I have to write I was stumped. I mean, the sketch is staring me in the face. I wanted to move in one direction and then felt myself experiencing a sense of creative paralysis. I know I was over thinking the creative process, but something didn't feel right. I wanted to layer, and layer more papers but this sketch was a simple, elegant sketch. It was pared down and I was finding it difficult to rise to the challenge.

So for this week's sketch I created two cards. One that is spot on and another that is an interpretation of the sketch. Thank you for stopping by.

Enjoy,

K

JAS Challenge No. 60 and Deconstructed Sketch No. 109

I love it when you can do two of your favorite things at one time. Not only do I have an opportunity to use one of Jen's fabulous Deconstructed Sketches, I can complete Just A Scrappin's weekly challenge as well!

This week's challenge at Just A Scrappin' is to create a card, layout or project that celebrates your family using your favorite colors and embellishment(s), along with utilizing the distress technique. This challenge was a perfect way to celebrate my sister who is turning 35. My sister loves the vintage look of things and distressing is a great way to add an aged look and feel to any project.

To create this card, I used the Flea Market paper collection by Colorbok. In addition, I added machine stitching and seam binding from Verve Stamps, and then distressed the entire card to give it an aged feel. I then applied tea dye ink to the edges to further age the paper. The pop-up embellishment is from K&Company. Michael's craft store placed these embellishments on clearance and I scooped them ALL up (I love embellishment).

Please stop by the Just A Scrappin' blog to view the projects of the other DT members.

Thank you for stopping by,

K

Unity Stamp Co.: Friends With Flair

Happy Friday! My Unity Stamp order arrived earlier this week and I could not wait to use my new stamps. I picked up a few stamps (there was an awesome sale), and one of my new favorites is a stamp with several little chicks and a sassy sentiment.

To create this card, I heat embossed the little chicks, added some twine and a cute wooden veneer chick to complete the card. Thank you for stopping by.

Happy Scrapping,

K

The Deconstructed Sketch No. 108

To create this card, I used The Deconstructed Sketch No. 108. I enjoyed the varied use of layers that were slightly askew. Each layer added another level of depth to the overall design. Usually, I do not use such bold colors, but this sketch inspired me to create outside of my normal color palette.

Enjoy,

K

JAS Challenge No. 59: Celebrating Mother Nature

Welcome back to another weekly challenge at Just A Scrappin'. This week we are exploring the beautiful colors found in nature. Create a card, layout or project using brown, orange, yellow, accompanied by the use of watercolor pencils or chalks.

For this card, I created a collage celebrating the beauty of nature. In choosing my embellishments, I tried to capture the trees, flowers and insects inherent in nature. I hope you enjoy and please stop by Just A Scrappin' to view the designs of my fellow design team members.

Enjoy,

CAS-ual Friday Challenge No. 108...Material Girls

I recently found a new weekly challenge that focuses on clean and simple designs...right up my alley. For this challenge, Material Girls, I created a birthday card using a K&Company pop up dimensional embellishment I purchased at Michaels. This embellishment is a slider, as well. I added several fun banners to create a fun and bright background for the embellishment and completed the design with twine from The Twinery.

I hope you Enjoy.

Deconstructed Sketch No. 107

Have you ever come across a stamp that just puts a silly grin on your face? I am a fan of the stamps designed by Unity Stamp Co. and this is one of my favorites. I finally had an opportunity to use this stamp for the first time and with Jen's Deconstructed Sketch No 107 the result is perfect.

To create this card, I used American Crafts alcohol pens to color in the stamped image. Then I added a few embellishments to enhance the image. Mainly, KI brads for eyes and a small heart (created using them small EK Success heart punch), and Xmas Stickles from Tim Holtz. I hope you enjoy the completed card.

Enjoy,

K

Deconstructed Sketch No. 106

When I saw Deconstructed Sketch No. 106 I knew exactly the type of card I wanted to create. I always enjoy the many layers utilized in the Deconstructed Sketch and realized that a nautical themed card with layers of waves would be perfect.

I cut four waves from the Pack Your Bags cartridge and layered them accordingly to create my ocean scene. The little sailboat is from the B Is For Boy cartridge. And the doily mat, used for the sky background, is from Elegant Edges. Together the various layers came together to create a fun, nautical-themed card. And another bonus, I was able to use cartridges purchased for a particular purpose in new and interesting ways. I hope you enjoy.

Thanks,

K

Life is Good...

I recently looked at my growing 6x6 paper pad collection and knew it was time to create a card with a long lost paper favorite. Over a year ago I was introduced to Simple Stories at a local crop. As a gift to each participant we were given a Simple Stories 6x6 pad. Well anyone who is familiar with my penchant for paper,  knew I would not be parting with a single sheet for a bit of time.

Fast forward to today, and I am still holding on to my paper pad. It is time to create. I created this card for a dear friend and even used a little glitter to make it really sparkle. Thank you for stoping by.

Enjoy,

K

Anchors Aweigh!

I love a good design challenge.  And masculine cards already challenge me. On top of that, tell me there is a theme attached to this challenge and you really have me going. That is exactly what a friend challenged me to do: create a birthday card for her sailor grandson. I know, the nautical trend is huge in scrapbooking at this moment. However, I prior to this moment had not glanced in that particular direction.

So off to the my craft room I went looking for something to inspire me and help me reach my goal: a card with a nautical, more specifically, naval theme. I looked through my Cricut library and stumbled upon the cartridge Stand and Salute. The cartridge was perfect and I felt my creativity starting to come alive.

I used the anchor with the globe die cut. I cut the image twice (for added depth) and embossed the anchor to give it dimension. Next, I inked the die cut for a distressed look. Finding and using a map patterned paper was essential in tying together the expansive nature of naval missions. The finishing touch were fastener brads bound together with blue jute. I think the finished card turned out well.

Thank you for stopping by and happy scrapping,

K
