Unity's Stamp Co.: Friends With Flair

Wahoo! We made it! Friday is here and it is time to have some crafty fun with our friends from Unity Stamp Co. I love the stamps from Unity Stamp Co. When I saw this stamp set I knew I just had to add it to my ever growing Unity Stamp collection. I used Unity's Ah Crap stamp set (along with a sentiment stamp from Stampin' Up) to create this funny birthday card for my dad. My dad is a funny guy who has a wicked sense of humor, so I knew he would enjoy the puns found in this stamp set. I know my dad is going to get a kick out of this card.

To create this card, I used Deconstructed Sketch #123 along with paper piecing to achieve the look I wanted to create. The paper is from various Basic Grey paper collections I have in my 6x6 stash, along with brads from KI.

Thank you for stopping by.

Smiles,

K

JAS Challenge: End of Summer Project

Good morning fellow crafters and scrappers,

Welcome to another weekly challenge at Just A Scrappin'. This week's challenge is to create a project, card or layout that sums up the end of your summer memories using any colors or materials.

I created this card for my sister's mother-in-law who was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The beaches in California are were we spend time together as one big family and I wanted to give her something that is a reminder of those times. To create this card, I used the Life Is A Beach Cricut cartridge along with papers from Crate Paper and My Minds Eye. The window effect is created by using the frame function on the Wild Card cartridge.

Please visit the Just A Scrappin' blog to view the project, layouts and cards of the design team. Thank you for stopping by.

JAS Challenge and Unity's: Friends with Flair

Hello Fellow Crafters and Scrappers,

Wahoo! The week is almost over and it is time to craft. I love making my way down to my quiet spot to be creative, stamp, die cut and any other crafting thing that comes to mind. This week at Just A Scrappin' we were asked to create a card, layout or project that is a reflection of who we are. I consider myself lucky to be a crafter. I love making cards for people. I like the idea of sending a card to an individual just to put a smile on their face. The funny thing, once a person becomes use to receiving a handmade card, a store bought will never do or so my friends and family tell me.

In the last several months, family and friends have encouraged me to sale my cards to local boutiques. I was nervous about starting such an endeavor, but I have enjoyed the process and the opportunity to constantly be challenged. I made this card at the request of a client and it is a reflection of my style as a card marker. I enjoy layering paper, stitching and stamping with my favorite stamps from Unity Stamp Co.

Please don't forget to stop by the blogs of my fellow DT members to view their projects. Thank you for stopping by.

Smiles

JAS Challenge and Unity's Friends With Flair

Good morning Crafters and Scrappers,

I hope your week is moving along splendidly! We had a blast last week at Just A Scrappin' with the pop-up card challenge. This week we are going vintage. You read correctly. Time to break out the lace, buttons, and start layering on the paper.

If you have seen some of my other projects, you know vintage is not my usual go to style. While I love the look, I tend to shy away from vintage projects because I feel overwhelmed by the thought of even knowing how to begin! With this card I started with what I do know--layer it on. I then distressed the papers, painted various chipboard pieces and stamped my way to crafting bliss.

Please stop the Just A Scrappin' to view the other great projects by the design team. Thank you for stopping by.

Enjoy,

K

JAS Challenge and Unity Friends With Flair

Hello Fellow Crafters and Scrappers,

Welcome to another weekly challenge at Just A Scrappin'. This week we are having fun making pop-up cards. Okay, I was a little nervous when I thought about having to make a pop-up card. However, after watching a few videos on Youtube I was ready to give this challenge a try. I cased this idea from Brandy at brandyscards.com, with a modification. A video on how to make the tissue box is located on Brandy's blog. Go to the videos' tab, then scroll though to you find a video entitled field flowers/pop-up tissue box card tutorial.

I love the idea of creating a Get Well card with a little tissue box. I cut a strip of paper 3"x5", as instructed, and then scored (along the 5" side) at 1", 2 1/2", and 3 1/2". However, I do not own an oval punch in my crafting toolbox, which is what Brandy used to create the oval in her tissue box. The oval is cut from the second panel (if looking at the piece of paper lying on the 5" side from left to right). Instead, I improvised and utilized the center-point feature on my Cricut machine along with the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. This also solved the problem of a not leaving a hole on the backside of the tissue box. To complete my card, I used my new stamps from Unity Stamps Co. along with ribbon and various inks from the Tim Holtz distressed ink pad collection.

Don't forget to stop by the Just A Scrappin' blog to check out the other DT members and their wonderful cards.

Enjoy,

K

JAS Challenge: Nothing but the Scraps!

Good Afternoon Fellow Crafters and Scrappers,

This week's challenge at Just A Scrappin' is to use only scraps to create a card, layout or project. Oh, how I do love a challenge that uses some of my favorite leftover pieces of paper, which I am loathe to part with.

As my blog name suggest, I am a lover of all things paper. Looking at and purchasing pretty sheets of paper is a stress reliever for me. And since I always purchase my paper on sale, I just couldn't pass up a steal and leave a lonely piece of paper without a home!

To create this card, I dug into by handy scraps bin (located right at my feet), and pulled out Crate Paper's Party Day and some basic colors by Stampin' Up. Even the embellishments are pieces I had lying around from a previous project. The twine is part of the packaging used from scrapbooking and pocket life kits I receive monthly in the mail. It makes my heart happy to know I am getting the most out of my materials and then some!

Please stop by and check out the projects from my fellow DT members.  You will be glad you did!

Enjoy,

Unity Stamp Co., Friends With Flair

Good Morning Fellow Crafters,

For this week's Friends with Flair I went with the Itty Bitty vintage trailer. This stamp is near and dear to my heart as it symbolizes a dream for my family and me. The thought of traveling as a family and exploring the United States is a dream we are striving to make come true. Even my husband, upon seeing this stamp, urged me to purchase it. How could I say, "No?"

To create this card, I used Basic Grey's Carte Postale and American Crafts' alcohol pens to color and shade the image. Next, I embellished the card with a little glitter, wooden veneer arrows, and jute.

Please visit Unity's blog to view the other great projects, cards and layouts by fellow stampers. You will be glad you did.

Thank you for stopping by.

Unity Stamp Co., Friends With Flair

Happy Friday Fellow Scrappers, Bloggers and Crafters,

Wahoo! I made it. Friday is finally here! This week has been very busy, but awesome. And what better way to close out the week then to share in Unity's Friends With Flair? Ok, I purchased this cute little stamp awhile ago and I am only now showcasing this cute image. I do not have any Get Well cards in my card stash so this is a perfect sentiment (there is also a Whale Done sentiment with this Itty Bitty). I just adore Unity's Itty Bitty stamps they are like little packets of happiness.

To complete this card, I used Crate Paper's The Pier along with jute from American craft. I colored the stamped image using my watercolor pencils by Stampin' Up. For the finishing touch I added a pearl. Thank you for stopping by. Please stop by the Unity blog to check out the other fabulous creations using Unity stamps.

Enjoy,

JAS Challenge and Sweet Sunday Sketch No. 192

Good Morning Fellow Crafters, Scrappers, and Bloggers,

Welcome to another weekly challenge at Just A Scrappin'. This week we are creating cards, projects or layouts using watercolors. I love using watercolors to color images or create softened effects for backgrounds.

In this week's challenge, I used Sweet Sunday Sketch No. 192 to create my card. I colored in the stamped image (from Unity Stamp Co., my favorite) with watercolor pencils from Stampin' Up.
Then added a few embellishments from Studio Calico and KI.

Unity Stamp Co., Friends with Flair

Hello Fellow Crafters, Scrappers and Bloggers,

Wahoo, it is Friday! Do you know what Friday means? Another fantastic opportunity to participate in Unity Stamp Company's Friday Friends with Flair. Friends with Flair is a wonderful way to showcase your Unity love and share your projects, cards or layouts using Unity stamps.

This week, I used one of my new inspirational stamps by Stephanie Ackerman entitled: P.U.S.H. (Pray Until Something Happens). I just love the sentiment because it is so very true, especially in today's stress-filled world. The P.U.S.H. stamp is of a substantial size so my card measures in at 6x5. For this card, I used my American Craft alcohol ink pens, Amy Tangerine paper to create the background, and seam binding from Verve to complete my card.

I hope you enjoy the sweet sentiment as much as I do.

Happy Friday,

K

JAS Challenge with a Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge No. 191

Good morning and Happy Thursday fellow crafters, scrappers and bloggers,

The weekend is almost here and it is time for a new challenge at the Just A Scrappin' blog. This week we are celebrating birthdays. The challenge is to create a card, project or layout with a birthday theme using bright, festive colors.

To tackle this challenge, I used a sketch from a sketch blog I recently discovered called the Sweet Sunday Sketch. The sketch is the right combination of simple and fun just perfect for the stamp I planned on using. I used the Oh Happy Day stamp from Unity Stamp Co., assorted papers from Basic Grey and My Mind's Eye, and completed the card using twine from The Twinery.

Please do not forget to check out the other projects from my fellow DT members. Thank you for stopping by.

Enjoy,

A Week in Unity (Itty Bitty A Day Challenge): Day 3

Wahoo! Day 3 of A Week in Unity. Ok, I am loving American Crafts' 5th & Frolic paper and also used it for this card. I wanted to keep this card simple so I used Stampin' Up's Right at Home stamp and found the perfect Unity stamp, from the Bitty Regards collection, to complete the card.

Thank you for stopping by.

A Week In Unity (Itty Bitty A Day Challenge): Day 2

A week in Unity, Wahoo! This week over at the Unity Stamp Co., fans are being challenged to use their favorite itty bitty stamps to create a card, layout or project each day of this week. Yesterday, I did not have an opportunity to play but I am stepping up my game today!

I had been eyeing the Happy Day stamp for some time on the Unity website. I finally purchased the vintage cutie and kept telling myself I would use it someday. Fast-forward a month or two, and this daily challenge was a wonderful opportunity to rip of the protective backing and get to stamping. I created this sweet, layered birthday card for a dear friend, who is more like a sister. The pattern papers are from American Crafts' 5th and Frolic, along with ribbon from Ribbon and Bows, Oh My!, and wood veneer stars from Studio Calico.

Thank you for stopping by.

Deconstructed Sketch No. 113 and Unity

This week I used Jen's Deconstructed Sketch No. 113 to create a special card for my husband. This Sunday marks our 12 year anniversary and with the passage of time I finding myself wondering: where did the time go? Oh, if I take the time to really look I know where it went...a number of deployments, two kids, school, work, missed holidays...it is all there, and yet, there is still so much more for us to do as a family, as a couple.

I purchased the Unity stamp used on this card sometime ago knowing it would be the perfect centerpiece for my husband's card. The world map perfectly represents are many travels together, and apart. And the sentiment, "On this journey together," pretty much sums up the story of our life.

Happy 12th Anniversary, PJ. Here is to today and many more to come.

Love,

K

JAS Challenge No. 61: New Arrival

Happy Thursday!

The week is almost over. I cannot believe how quickly time is passing by. Summer is almost over and soon my oldest son will be starting kindergarten. I cannot believe it!

This week's challenge at Just A Scrappin', is to create a card, layout or project for a new arrival in the family using pastel colors. I decided to make a little boy baby card. This card came together relatively easily until the last minute when I am looking at the card and thinking to myself it is missing something. I then spent the next half hour trying to decide how to complete the card. At first, I colored the stars. Didn't like it, wrong color. Then I used glossy accents to add shine. Didn't like that either. Finally, I thought, "Glitter?" Glitter, was the answer.

Please stop by the Just A Scrappin' blog to view the cards, project, and layouts of my fellow design team members.

Thank you for visiting.

The Deconstructed Sketch No. 112

Hello Fellow Scrappers,

This week's Deconstructed Sketch is all about layers. I enjoyed working with this sketch and seeing it all come together. I substituted the hot air balloon for a layer from the original sketch and completed the scene with a few puffy, white clouds. I mixed and matched papers from Echo Park and Basic Grey (two of my favorite paper companies). I love the bright, playful colors and I am hoping the recipient of this card does too!  Finally, I embossed the card base to add a little depth and dimension.  Thank you for stopping by.

Enjoy!

Unity Stamp Co.: Friends with Flair

It's that time again at Unity Stamp Co.: Friday's Friends with Flair. Time to share with fellow crafters what individuals have created this week with their Unity Stamp Co stamps.

I created this masculine Thank You card using Echo Park's This and That collection, and a new sentiment stamp from Unity Stamp Co. called Everything Wonderful. I really love sentiment stamps and Unity has awesome sentiments. I then added machine stitching and jute from American Crafts. The final touch was the little wooden veneer piece from Studio Calico.

Thank you for stopping by.

Deconstructed Sketch No. 110

Ok, so I tried out Jen's Deconstructed Sketch No. 110 this week and I have to write I was stumped. I mean, the sketch is staring me in the face. I wanted to move in one direction and then felt myself experiencing a sense of creative paralysis. I know I was over thinking the creative process, but something didn't feel right. I wanted to layer, and layer more papers but this sketch was a simple, elegant sketch. It was pared down and I was finding it difficult to rise to the challenge.

So for this week's sketch I created two cards. One that is spot on and another that is an interpretation of the sketch. Thank you for stopping by.

Enjoy,

JAS Challenge No. 60 and Deconstructed Sketch No. 109

I love it when you can do two of your favorite things at one time. Not only do I have an opportunity to use one of Jen's fabulous Deconstructed Sketches, I can complete Just A Scrappin's weekly challenge as well!

This week's challenge at Just A Scrappin' is to create a card, layout or project that celebrates your family using your favorite colors and embellishment(s), along with utilizing the distress technique. This challenge was a perfect way to celebrate my sister who is turning 35. My sister loves the vintage look of things and distressing is a great way to add an aged look and feel to any project.

To create this card, I used the Flea Market paper collection by Colorbok. In addition, I added machine stitching and seam binding from Verve Stamps, and then distressed the entire card to give it an aged feel. I then applied tea dye ink to the edges to further age the paper. The pop-up embellishment is from K&Company. Michael's craft store placed these embellishments on clearance and I scooped them ALL up (I love embellishment).

Please stop by the Just A Scrappin' blog to view the projects of the other DT members.

Thank you for stopping by,
