Good morning Fellow Crafters and Scrappers,

Where does the time go? I completed these cards a week ago and finding the time to post my creations, to share with others, has escaped me. I love the creative process of designing new card layouts; however, I am not very good about posting my creations.

My New Year's Resolution: Post, Post and Post Again! I am hoping that writing it down for the world to read will lead me to action. One can always hope, right?

Challenge #23--Stamp and Stomp

Good Morning Fellow Crafters,

Welcome to Challenge #23 at Just A Scrappin'. The challenge for this week is to use the colors lime green, orange, another color and a stamped image to create a card, layout or project. I will write that at first the color challenge had me thinking--Really! However, once I had a moment to think it over I thought, "This color scheme might be great for a masculine color if anchored by black."

So off I went to my craft room to pull out paper and embellishments for my masculine card. I used a French script background stamp along with twine and other embellishments to complete my card.

I am interested in starting a card business and some of the best individuals to help and encourage you in this area are your family and friends. Enter my mom. My parents have a neighbor who loves to garden and share the fruits of his labor. So my mom commissioned me to create a Thank You card for her neighbor. My mother is creative, she owns an Expression 2 and Cuttlebug, but she wanted to help me get my start. She had something in mind and wondered if I could make it work. After she gave me her ideas I set out on a creative journey. My mom and dad were both pleased with the end result.

Challenge #21--Volleyball, Anyone?

Good morning fellow crafters,

It is that time of the year--sports! I am not a sports girl myself (don't even mention the Cal vs. Stanford game around my husband), so this week's challenge really was something of a challenge for me. For the Just A Scrappin' challenge we are told to use a volleyball theme incorporating the colors gold, maroon, and white. Plus do not forget the brads.

For starters, I do not own a single Cricut cartridge with sports of any kind...not good. I improvised. I used a beach ball (and I have seen individuals playing volleyball with a beach ball so I think it counts). Then for the brad I used my imaginisce brad-maker, which is awesome! Presto, this week's challenge is a hit!

Just A Scrappin' Challenge #19--Step It Up!

Good morning fellow crafters and bloggers,

Thank you for stopping by and checking out my blog to see this week's Just A Scrappin' challenge. This week's challenge is near and dear to my heart. My father-in-law recently took us on a road trip to visit his family. We had a wonderful time in Rock Valley, IA. I loved the rolling, green hills and down home family charm of this town of 3500 residents.

And to make the town even sweeter, there was a little piece of scrapping heaven in Rock Valley that rivaled any scrapbooking store in a metropolitan city. When I walked into A Walk Down Memory Lane I was in awe! There was every type of scrappy goodness nestled right on Main Street. If you wanted October Afternoon--it was there. Little Yellow Bicycle--it was there. Carta Bella--you betcha! I flittered about touching all the pretty papers and embellishment before finally settling upon Little Yellow Bicycle's Escape collection and cute pearl stickpins from Maya Road.

I used the paper from Little Yellow Bicycle to create my card "Are We There Yet?" It was perfect since throughout our trip my little one (age 4) kept asking, "Are we there yet?" After several hours of driving it gets a little tiring, but my father-in-law always answered the question with a smile.

It's Raining Flowers...

When I first saw the Kate's ABCs cartridge I just had to have it. What is there not to love about a cartridge with so many cute images? Now, I have had the cartridge for awhile. I guess I was just waiting for the right time and inspiration to hit me so I could use it. I hope you enjoy the combination of flowers and delicate papers that make this card so special.

Just A Scrappin Challenge # 17--Back to School

Good morning fellow crafters,

This week at Just A Scrappin' we are saying good-bye to summer vacation and hello school. The challenge is to make a project, card or layout for "back to school" including ribbon and bling.

Once again, I decided to try my hand at a project. This idea came from a fellow crafter on Pinterest who altered a Pringles can into a giant pencil (you can visit her blog at www.gluesticksandtape.com for a great step-by-step instructional). What a perfect idea for back to school and on top of that I could use it as a gift for my son's preschool teacher.

In the post, the blogger uses a cutterbee cutting system to make circular cuts. If you do not have a cutterbee system, you can use your Cricut machine. You can make the cuts by using the center point function on your machine. Start by making the first circle cut, in this case the 3 1/4 " cut out of tan paper, and then make the 5 1/2" circle cut on the same paper. It was awesome making this project because I learned something new about my Cricut Expression that I have had for two years now!

Completed Project:13"

Paper: Recollections, DCWV
Cartridges: Storybook (real dial; circle 2 3/4" cut for top of the eraser (pink), 3 " cut for inside the top (tan));  Lyrical Letters (welded; 1 1/4"); Nates ABCs (letters cut at 1" and 1/2")
Imaginisce: Bling

Pringle's can measurements: Yellow paper (10 3/16" L x 11" W)
Pink eraser (10 3/16" L x 1 3/4" W)
Metal band (11" L x 1" W) then crimp or fan paper
Pencil/lead cuts: tan paper ( 5 1/2" paper with a  3 1/4" circle cut from the center); black paper (4 1/2 circle). Glue the black circle on the the tan paper with the 3 1/4" circle cut out).

Pencil border: Gypsy weld (Elegant edges border (bird) cut to 11.10"; ink with tea dye ink (Tim Holtz); and cut some of the tips to give the worn look of the pencil being sharpened.

I used tacky tape, but you can use mod podge or a similar sticky adhesive.

Throughout this project I used the  REAL SIZE DIAL for cuts.

August's Scrap Challenges

Good afternoon fellow crafters,

I love this scrap challenge I am doing for myself. My monthly "Scraps Challenge" has really forced me to utilize what I have and to think outside of my creative, comfort zone. By only using what is in my scrapping stash I have learned to look at color, texture and patterns in new ways. Prior to this challenge, I would have shied away from mixing too many colors and patterns. However, now I see how these elements can come together seamlessly to create a rich and vibrant new creation.

I made this card for my wonderful husband who has loving supported my crafting hobby for the last 10 years. My special guy listens to me as a describe the latest and greatest crafting gadget that I must have with an attentive expression on his face. My hubby even has a craft table next to me so that we can craft together in the evenings. I could not ask for a better partner.

JAS Challenge #15 Critters, and Buttons and Embossing...Oh, My!

Happy Thursday fellow crafters!

At Just A Scrappin' we have a fabulous challenge this week: critters, buttons and embossing! Use all three of these elements to create a card, layout or project (color choice is up to you). Add a little creativity and you are off to a great start.

I thought about the critter element and thought, "Finally, a chance to use my Cindy Loo cartridge!" Sad detail is I had purchased that particular cartridge one year ago and never made a single cut! Sad, but true. I enjoyed this challenge, as with the others, and had a chance to utilize the brads in my stash (I ran out of buttons). Please check out the other fabulous designers on the team.
